Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Terminators (Work In Progress)

Despite being on holidays at the moment, progress on my first squad of Terminators has been rather slow. I'm hoping to finish off laying down the Tin Bitz tomorrow before getting stuck into the detail work.

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Terminators (Work In Progress)

Both units of Terminators have now been assembled, with all weapon options magnetised. Now I just need to track down some Slaaneshi Icons to finish them off before I can start painting.

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Lesser Daemons

And the rest of the lesser daemons unit is complete - this time with a slightly better quality photo.

The next unit on the hit list will be a squad of Terminators, though I don't plan to do too much on them until the magnets I've ordered for weapon swaps turn up.

In the meantime I'm hoping to get back into working on my tournament software project which has been neglected for far too long.

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Lesser Daemons (Half Unit)

I've just completed half of the Lesser Daemons unit. I'm hoping to get the the remaining 5 finished over the next week.

I still need to get myself a better camera and/or lighting setup.

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Lesser Daemons (Work In Progress)

My lesser daemons are slowly coming along. All I've done so far is apply a rough drybrush of Dheneb Stone to the flesh and claws over a Hormagaunt Purple base coat.

After looking at the photos, I think a few touch ups are in order before proceeding with the rest of the paint job.

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Lesser Daemon Basing (Work In Progress)

In keeping with the basing concept for this army - that each unit will have the remnants of a vanquished enemy unit incorporated into their base - what better choice for my Lesser Daemons than a butchered assortment of their Khornate foes.

Malifaux - Resurrectionist Gang

This is the other painting project I've had sitting on the sidelines and which is now complete. I haven't attempted anything too fancy on the painting front - I just wanted to get them finished quickly and to a passable tabletop standard so I can actually start playing some games and learn the rules.

As for the photos, I really need to get both a better camera and lighting.

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Chaos Marine Squad / Lesser Daemons

And the Chaos Marine Squad is done, though it took alot longer than initially anticipated. Curse this thing called "life". Ah well, better late than never.

I've also started assembling the next squad for the army: a group of Lesser Daemons.

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Chaos Marine Squad (Work In Progress)

Almost there. All that's left now is to do a little bit of tidy-up here and there and get them on their bases.

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Chaos Marine Squad (Work In Progress)

Yes. I am still alive and so is this blog. No. I haven't finished the squad yet. However I have finished the two meltagun marines.

Hopefully having finished these two the rest of the squad will follow a little quicker.

This is the second batch of Wyches I've done for a friend. This time in preparation for the Quartermaster III tournament in Brisbane this weekend.

Imperial Guard - Commissar

This fellow will accompany my footslogging Infantry Platoon to keep them from running away. For game purposes the power fist will simply count as a power weapon.

Have I mentioned that I hate photographing anything I've hit with a wash of Badab Black (no matter how heavy)? It always end up looking worse in the photos than it does on the table.

Imperial Guard - Officer of the Fleet & Infantry Detail

After playing with a similar list for my Guard for about a year, I've decided to mix things up a bit with a few changes - primarily a Manticore, an Officer of the Fleet and a Commissar for my foot-slogging infantry.

Officer of the Fleet:

I've also applied a liberal amount of Devlan Mud to all my infantry to dirty them up in a similar fashion to the vehicles in my army.

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Basing

I've now finished all the bases that I will be using for the army.

The steps I took were as follows:

1. Apply Charadon Granite over a black undercoat:

2. Drybrush with Adeptus Battlegrey:

3. Drybrush with Codex Grey:

4. Drybrush with Astronomicon Grey:

5. Apply a wash of Badab Black and tidy up the sides of the bases with Charadon Granite for the final result:

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Assembled Chaos Space Marines

I've used the Emperor's Children shoulder pads produced by Games Workshop and the Champion's head is from a Bretonnian Knight Errant.

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Combi-Flamer Conversion

I made this from a bolter and flamer from the Chaos Space Marines box set to equip the Champion on my unit of Slaaneshi Chaos Space Marines.

I was originally going to use a hand flamer, but I had nothing to lose by giving it a go with a regular flamer.

Needless to say I'm quite happy with the results.

Slaaneshi Chaos Marines - Army Lists

So my next project is going to be a Slaaneshi Chaos Marine force, with a focus on two big units of Terminators. From the outset this is never intended to be an overly competitive force, but more of a hobby project that should look awesome on the tabletop.

So it's about time I started using this...

I originally created this blog some years ago for reasons I can't clearly remember and never ended up using it at all... until now.

Rather than clutter up my local wargaming group's forum with various project logs (WH40K Imperial Guard, WHFB Bretonnians, Mid-War Soviet Strelkovy Battalion), I've decided to shift any future work here. Hopefully I can get into the habit of updating things regularly.

Recently I helped a friend in his preparation for the local WH40K tournament by painting a dozen Dark Eldar Wyches. The only thing missing at the time this photo was taken was a liberal application of a wash of Badab Black to the armour and weapons. Unfortunately I forgot to take a photo of the finished product before returning them to their owner, but you get the idea.
