Warmahordes - Skorne (The Beginnings)

Next up on the painting hit list, my Skorne for Hordes/Warmachine. Due to the supply chain for Privateer Press being backed up due to increased demand, it's taken me around 6 months to get my hands on what I wanted. Not exactly encouraging for those just trying to get into the game in Australia, but whatchagonnado?

The following are the beginnings of painting my Skorne force. As with my Dystopian Wars fleet, it's nothing fancy - just a good tabletop standard while trying for something different to the standard red themed Skorne force. For the most part I used Citadel paints along with Army Painter Soft Tone to bring out the detail. Vallejo Matt Varnish was also indispensable for taking the gloss off the paint job after dipping - cheers to Thabian for the heads up on that one.

Dystopian Wars - Prussian Empire (Finished Starter Fleet)

So I finished painting my starter fleet for Dystopian Wars earlier in week. The pictures speak for themselves - not my best work but a good tabletop standard IMHO.

From here on in I won't have to add too much more to the fleet to get it up to 1000 points, which seems to be a fairly standard game size judging by what the Internet has to say for itself. Things like a Sky FortressMetzger Class Robot or Dreadnought.

In the meantime however I'll be sticking to starter fleet games.

Dystopian Wars - Prussian Empire

After 12 or so months of dwelling on it, last month I caved and picked up the Dystopian Wars rulebook and some Prussian Empire figures at a WH40K tournament in Brisbane. The following are some work in progress shots of my work on the contents of the Naval Battle Group, which comprises approximatly 700 odd points in-game. Not bad for a AUD $55 starter box IMHO.

Orktoberfest 2011 - Army Photos

No, my blog isn't dead. It's merely been... resting. Yes, resting.

To be perfectly honest, I've been rather slack on the miniatures painting front since February. After helping produce 7+ new tables of terrain for the local club in preparation for the annual tournament in June (which I also happened to be running this year), I completely lost track of getting my Emperor's Children finished.

All that changed about 6 weeks ago when I realised I had to get things ready for the Orktoberfest tournament in Brisbane. They're not quite 100% done yet, but they're almost there.

The following are some photos of just a few of the armies present over the weekend.

Later in the week I hope to post a little more about my experiences in the tournament itself.
